Campari Launches Bourbon Barrel-aged Aperitif

The Italian bittersweet red aperitif Campari has announced a new expression in the U.S. — Campari Cask Tales.

Created by Herbalist and Master Blender, Bruno Malavasi, Campari Cask Tales is finished in bourbon barrels.

On the nose, Cask Tales spotlights a traditional Campari herbal profile, balanced with a subtle spiciness from finishing in wood, the company says. On the palate, the bourbon-barrel finishing smooths the bitter notes with fruity, sweet and creamy tones, providing a delicate oaky smokiness to the Campari liquid.

Campari Cask Tales was largely inspired and informed by bartenders from around the globe, including Leo Robitschek, Gaz Regan, and Jeffrey Morgenthaler, who shared their expertise and guidance alongside Malavasi.

While Campari Cask Tales was made to inspire bartenders to experiment and create their own cocktails, the spirit can also be enjoyed in classic, simple serves such as neat or on the rocks. Cask Tales is also ideal in the form of a Shakerato, where the spirit is shaken with ice and served up in a chilled cocktail glass.

The U.S. launch of Campari Cask Tales comes at a time that bitters, brown and aged spirits continue to rise in popularity.

Campari Cask Tales is 25% ABV. It is available now in select markets for a suggested retail price of $69.99 per 1-L bottle.
