SWA: ‘Urgent’ clarity needed on business rates relief

Trade body the Scotch Whisky Association (SWA) is calling for “urgent clarification” on business rates relief for distilleries and the suspension of duty payments to help producers amid the covid-19 outbreak. In the UK budget on 11 March, UK chancellor Rishi Sunak said the government would abolish business rates for leisure and hospitality businesses this year in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak.
