UK festive food and drink spend increases

Pubs, bars and restaurants across the UK increased sales by 2.5% over Christmas and New Year compared with the same period in 2018. Majestic hails ‘largest ever’ trading day over Christmas

Retailer Majestic Wine reported its biggest trading day in the company’s 40-year history on 23 December 2019, as spirits helped boost sales over the Christmas period. During Majestic Wine’s third quarter, which ran from 1 October to 30 December 2019, sales were up 4.3% compared to the same period the previous year.
