Japanese whisky and gin drive spirits sales in GTR

Total spirits volume in the global travel retail channel grew 2.5% last year, boosted by double-digit gains from Japanese whisky and gin, according to new IWSR figures. In 2018, spirits volume in the channel reached 24.5 million nine-litre cases, with a value of US$9.2 billion. Jameson debuts GTR-exclusive Triple Triple

Pernod Ricard’s Irish Distillers unit has unveiled a new global travel retail-exclusive Irish whiskey, called Jameson Triple Triple. Produced at the Midleton Distillery in County Cork, Jameson Triple Triple is triple-distilled and blended from a combination of ex-Bourbon and Sherry casks, along with casks that have been seasoned with fortified wine from Malaga in Spain. Ian Macleod Distillers has unveiled a six-week long activation in Glasgow International Airport for its Edinburgh Gin brand.
