David Cutter, Diageo’s president of global supply and procurement, has been given the additional role of chief sustainability officer.

In addition, the firm has created the position of director of Diageo in society, which will be filled by InterContinental Hotels executive Kate Gibson in March next year. Gibson will lead the team responsible for “ensuring Diageo plays a positive role in all the communities” it operates in.

Johnnie Walker maker Diageo has created both roles to demonstrate its “commitment to society and the environment”.
“Across our diverse supply chain I see first-hand the positive impact our operations can have on the communities around them,” said Cutter.
“Whether it is ensuring our sites have leading energy efficient technology, reducing fuel and water consumption or supporting our vast global family of farmers providing grains to our breweries and distilleries, this is a huge and significant role.
“I fervently believe in the significant contribution we can make and our commitment to do so.”
