First Hebridean Whisky Festival set to launch

Scotch fans will have another festival to choose from this summer as the first Hebridean Whisky Festival prepares to launch across the islands of Skye, Raasay and Harris.

Scheduled to take place between 21 and 25 May, the Hebridean Whisky Festival will encompass four distilleries: Talisker, Torabhaig, Isle of Raasay and Isle of Harris.

The festival will offer free tours, tastings, music, casks and special events at each distillery and the Aros Centre, Portree.

Torabhaig Distillery on Skye will kick start the festival’s proceedings on 21 May, followed by Talisker on 22 May.

On 23 May, visitors are invited to the Isle of Raasay Distillery for the launch of its new warehouse, and whisky and chocolate tours, before the Isle of Harris Distillery welcomes guests on 24 May.

Throughout the festival, the Aros Centre will host a Hebridean Whisky Festival tasting stand to showcase each distillery.

Completing the event will be the ‘Big Day at Slig’, which will take place at the Sligachan Hotel on Saturday, 25 May on Skye. All four distilleries will assemble for a day of whisky tastings, cocktails, cask displays, craft ales and music from the Isle of Skye pipe band. All events will be free to attend.
