Launch and Inspiration
The Macallan has unveiled the latest addition to its Distil Your World series, Distil Your World Paris, a Scotch whisky priced at $4,750. This new release is part of an evolving collection that pays homage to famous cities and countries. The whisky was created by Master Whisky Maker Kirsteen Campbell, who drew inspiration from the city of Paris, its patisseries, perfumeries, and poetic streetscape.
Production and Maturation
The Scotch was aged in a combination of American and European Sherry-seasoned oak and ex-bourbon casks, before being finished in rare Cognac barrels. This multi-step maturation process contributes to the whisky’s complex flavor profile. The liquid is bottled at 47.2% ABV.
Packaging and Design
The whisky comes in a collectible box featuring a gouache illustration of a typical Parisian street, created by French artist Cassandre Montori. The box is part of a series that showcases different cities and their unique characteristics.
Tasting Notes
The whisky offers aromas of almost croissants, rose, sweet nectarines, sandalwood, and vanilla pods. The palate features buttered pastry, brioche, peach melba, and toasted oak, with a finish of gentle spices and warm oak.
