Overview: The Hidden Cellar, a new concept operating within Aye Candy, prepares for its grand opening on Saturday, November 7. Located in Spring Branch, Houston, this speakeasy focuses exclusively on wine and whiskey collections. Patrons can access an intimate environment featuring private lockers for rent to store favorite bottles.
The Full Story
A speakeasy within a speakeasy is the premise of the new venue. While Aye Candy’s focus remains on cocktails, Hidden Cellar is devoted to wine and whiskey. The entrance is literally hidden behind a painting in the host cocktail bar, offering an even more intimate environment than its parent location.
The space features a long bar and lockers that will allow those who pay a fee to keep their favorite bottles stored for private consumption. The Hidden Cellar will celebrate its grand opening with music by Tropical Muses beginning at 9 pm. Reservations are available by messaging the bar on Instagram.
Brand & Industry History
Cristy Velasco, her mother Mely, and brother Rafael opened Aye Candy in May 2024. Inspired by speakeasies in Mexico City, patrons enter the cocktail bar through a small candy shop at the entrance. Once they walk through the storefront, visitors will find a dimly lit lounge with banquettes for small groups and couches for larger gatherings.
Consumer Takeaway
This venue offers access to a long bar stocked with whiskey from around the world. Guests can rent private lockers to keep their favorite bottles stored for private consumption. The experience emphasizes thoughtful selections, hospitality, and the pleasure of finding something worth returning for.
