A Ballymahon woman has found herself in a sticky situation after attempting to make off with two bottles of brandy from a local garage. Salinca Muntean, 27, was handed a €150 fine on December 22, 2024, following the incident at Nally’s garage.
The unusual theft, reported by Sergeant Mark Mahon, involved Muntean and two other women who brazenly shoved the bottles of brandy into their skirts and absconded without paying. According to Sergeant Mahon, the men were responsible for acquiring the brandy and placing it on the shop shelf prior to the theft.
Speaking after the conviction, Salinca Muntean’s solicitor, Frank Gearty, described the event as a “foolish escapade.” Judge Bernadette Owens agreed, imposing the fine which must be paid in six months.
