Domino Printing Sciences has solidified its position as a leading innovator in variable data printing with a groundbreaking partnership with Erdinger Brewery, the world’s largest wheat beer producer. The collaboration centers on the implementation of Domino’s new Dx1060i 100W CO2 laser coder, marking a significant step in the development of high-power laser coding solutions—particularly vital for demanding beverage manufacturing operations.
Erdinger, based in Erding, Bavaria, processes an astonishing 165,000 bottles per hour. For over three decades, the brewery has relied on Domino’s laser marking technology, but increasing export demands and line speeds reaching 60,000 bottles per hour necessitated a significant upgrade. The company’s previous 60-watt D-Series laser coder simply couldn’t keep pace.
The solution? A complete upgrade to the new 100-watt Dx1060i. This laser coder delivers consistently sharp and durable codes, integrating seamlessly with Erdinger’s automated filling line and central ERP system. The enhanced laser power enables the brewery to meet rigorous labeling requirements while maintaining unparalleled operational efficiency.
“Domino managed the entire integration with our ERP system seamlessly,” reported a key Erdinger maintenance specialist. The upgraded system minimizes waste and aligns with the brewery’s sustainability goals, a critical factor given its massive output.
Senior Product Manager – Laser at Domino, Frauke Schroeder, highlighted the significance of the project: “Working with Erdinger to integrate the Dx1060i in such a demanding production environment demonstrates the system’s capability and reliability at scale.” The Dx1060i’s consistent performance is crucial for maintaining product quality and streamlining operations at one of the world’s most respected wheat beer breweries.
