Arjen Pen, co-owner of Château Branas Grand Poujeaux and winemaker behind Marpaout 2022, attributes this success to his team’s meticulous attention to detail. The wine is made from a single plot of Merlot in the estate vineyards, where each parcel is fermented separately in individual vats.
Pen explains that their unique approach allows them to capture the distinct terroir characteristics of each block. “Our vineyard distribution resembles that of a Burgundy producer,” he notes, referring to the varied subsoils and exposures on Terrasse No. 3 in Moulis.
