Philadelphia – A serious incident unfolded outside a West Philadelphia beer distributor on Tuesday, January 7th, 2026, leaving one man critically injured and another woman hospitalized in stable condition. Police are actively investigating the shooting, which occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of 43rd Street and Market Street.
The incident began with an altercation between the victim, a 35-year-old male, and an unidentified suspect. Surveillance footage obtained by the Philadelphia Police Department shows the suspect following the man outside the business before the gunfire erupted. The victim sustained at least one gunshot wound to the torso and is currently hospitalized in critical condition. A 65-year-old woman who was standing nearby was struck by stray bullets and is reported to be in stable condition.
Investigators recovered approximately 13 shell casings at the scene. Police Chief Inspector Scott Small stated that the investigation is ongoing and all leads are being pursued. ‘We are working diligently to identify the suspect and bring them to justice,’ Small said in a press conference earlier today.
The suspect, described as a male wearing a red shirt or hooded sweatshirt, accompanied by a tan jacket, fled the scene on foot southbound on 43rd Street from Market Street. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward.
