## A New Anchor for South Boulder: Siren Cocktail Bar Opens Its Doors
South Boulder residents now have a sophisticated cocktail destination without the downtown Boulder crowds. Siren Cocktail Bar, recently opened in the former Tandoori Grill space, is quickly establishing itself as a neighborhood hub, offering expertly crafted drinks and a uniquely atmospheric experience.
Daniel Shuford, the bar’s beverage director, is taking the reins, delivering classic cocktails with a modern twist. The menu boasts a flawlessly executed vodka martini and a potent espresso martini, with significant opportunities for customization. But Siren’s ambitions extend beyond just familiar favorites. Shuford is experimenting with flavor profiles, demonstrating a commitment to pushing the boundaries of the cocktail experience.
## More Than Just a Bar: A Community Space
General Manager Cassandra Bradley’s vision for Siren goes beyond simply serving drinks. She’s actively cultivating a welcoming environment designed to appeal to a broad range of customers. “You could bring your kid, you could go in for a date,” Bradley explains. “So, kind of just checking all the boxes and being available to the community.”
Located in a carefully chosen spot within South Boulder, Siren strategically avoids the usual downtown competition. This positioning allows the bar to focus on building deep roots within the local neighborhood.
## Speedy Service and Bold Flavors
Siren’s operation is built on efficiency. Employing “Jungle” protocols – streamlined service designed to minimize wait times – ensures a rapid delivery of cocktails. While potency is a key concern, some of the more adventurous offerings are limited to a single serving per customer. This careful approach highlights Shuford’s dedication to quality and control.
Cocktail highlights include the Oaxacan Dog, and the house Siren Martini, which incorporates sherry, bitters, and caviar. Non-alcoholic options, like the Mutiny Haven (verjus, peach, ginger, and non-alcoholic aperitif), broaden the bar’s appeal.
## Food to Complement the Spirit
While the menu isn’t extensive, it’s thoughtfully designed to enhance the drinking experience. Tinned fish, beer-battered cod fish sticks, and a five-cheese grilled cheese offer satisfying pairings. Bradley noted the intentionally slim profit margins on the tinned fish, aiming for a balanced offering.
