Tequila Ocho is doubling down on its commitment to showcasing the profound impact of terroir with the launch of its new ‘Terroir Select’ line. Recognizing the crucial role of the environment in shaping tequila’s distinctive flavors, the brand is now releasing single-region, multi-field tequilas, beginning with the highly anticipated ‘Comunidad.’
‘Comunidad’ represents Ocho’s deep-rooted understanding of agave cultivation. The spirit’s foundation lies in agave plants grown exclusively in El Nacimiento de Abajo, a treasured field within Arandas, Jalisco. This careful selection underscores the brand’s dedication to sourcing agave from areas renowned for their unique microclimates and soil composition.
The initial release arrives in two expressions: Plata and Reposado, each bottled at 80 proof (40% ABV). The Plata, or Blanco, captures the immediate vibrancy of the agave, while the Reposado benefits from a six-month aging in ex-American bourbon barrels, adding subtle notes of vanilla, caramel, and spice.
‘Comunidad’ is a testament to the art of tequila-making, celebrating the nuances that distinguish each field’s expression. Ocho’s focus on terroir is more than just a marketing tactic; it’s a sincere reflection of the brand’s philosophy.
This release will be available at select retailers and bars across the United States this month. Details on pricing have yet to be released, but tequila enthusiasts can expect a premium spirit with a compelling story. Expect to see more Terroir Select releases from Ocho in the future, further exploring the diverse landscapes of Jalisco’s highlands.
