The London Distillery Company has marked a significant milestone in the city’s modern whisky revival by releasing its first ten-year-old single malt whisky, "Ten Times Around the Sun". This limited-edition release is available exclusively via the distillery’s website and represents a decade-long effort to re-establish whisky-making in London after more than a century of absence.
Distilled from Quench spring barley and laid down in an ex-bourbon cask on 20th October 2015, Ten Times Around the Sun was matured for ten years before being bottled at 51.4% ABV. The whisky is presented non-chill filtered and with natural colour, allowing consumers to assess its development in the cask.
The launch of this single malt is notable not only for its age but also for its place in London’s whisky history. The London Distillery Company was originally founded in 2011 in Battersea, the first distillery to open in the city since 1903. The producer played a key role in reviving London’s whisky scene, combining traditional methods with a modern identity.
However, the company faced challenges and ceased operations in 2020, leaving the brand’s future uncertain. Now, they are undergoing a revival, with this historic release intended to preserve its early story while signalling future ambitions.
According to Matt McKay, managing director and whisky maker: "Ten Times Around the Sun marks a defining moment for The London Distillery Company. It honours one of our earliest casks, capturing the original spirit that began our work. This release is a tangible piece of London’s whisky history, surviving the distillery’s closure in 2019 and now emerging as a symbol of our return. This is a whisky born of our past, shaped by our revival, and confidently demonstrating our bold, bright future."
The bottle features artwork depicting ten orbits around the sun, reflecting its decade of maturation. Tasting notes describe it as a bright, fruit-forward whisky with aromas of peach and mango, a palate of preserved fruits, milk chocolate, and creamy cereal, and a long finish with ripe fruit and Szechuan pepper.
This release follows the company’s success with its sherry cask single malt, Embarque, which won gold at the 2026 World Whiskies Awards. The London Distillery Company’s Ten Times Around the Sun single malt whisky is released on 27th February 2026 and can be purchased exclusively via their website for £89.95 per bottle.
