Pittsfield, MA – Wandering Star Craft Brewery, a beloved fixture in the Berkshires, has closed its doors permanently. The brewery, a cornerstone of the local craft beer scene, ceased operations on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, following owner Chris Post’s decision not to renew his brewing license for the upcoming year.
For nearly fifteen years, Wandering Star, nestled at 11 Gifford St., offered a uniquely welcoming experience. Post’s journey began with a passion for homebrewing, culminating in a formal education and invaluable experience at a Manhattan brewpub. This knowledge translated into a 15-barrel production brewery and taproom where he consistently delivered fresh, expertly crafted draft beer and cans.
Beyond the beer itself, Wandering Star was celebrated for its vibrant atmosphere. Patrons regularly enjoyed delicious food from Braise Worthy, relaxed in the expansive outdoor beer garden, and engaged in a variety of games and events, including annual holiday potlucks and spirited karaoke sessions. The brewery was also affectionately known for its resident feline, Fuggle, a constant companion and a beloved part of the Wandering Star family.
“It’s bittersweet,” said longtime customer Sarah Miller, who’s visited the brewery for the past eight years. “Wandering Star wasn’t just a brewery; it was a community. The beer was great, of course, but it was the people and the atmosphere that made it special.”
While the future of the space remains uncertain, Wandering Star’s legacy as a pioneering craft brewery in the Berkshires will undoubtedly endure. The brewery’s commitment to quality beer, community engagement, and a genuinely welcoming experience set a high standard for the region’s growing craft beer scene.
