A young Californian cowboy has etched his name into PBR history, securing a stunning first-career victory at the Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour (PWVT) event in Ontario, California. 20-year-old Wyatt Vineyard dominated the weekend, culminating in a 2-for-3 performance that earned him a well-deserved win and a significant boost in the Velocity Global standings.
Vineyard’s weekend began with an impressive 85.70-point ride on Wild Willie in Round 1, immediately establishing him as a contender. Despite a lower 65-point ride against Mr. Bombastic in Round 2, his strong Round 1 performance kept him atop the leaderboard.
The championship round proved to be a dramatic finale. Vineyard skillfully navigated a ride on Johny Dang, but an unfortunate exit after 2.73 seconds prevented him from securing a flawless victory. However, his cumulative 107 Velocity Global points placed him at No. 43 in the standings, a testament to his consistent performance.
Second place went to Dione de Souza Ribeiro, who showcased an outstanding 87.70-point ride against Preston’s Pistol in Round 1, followed by a 4.57-second exit against Smoke Scream in the final round, amassing 78 Velocity Global points. Andy Guzman and Braidy Randolph rounded out the top three with 64 and 49 points, respectively. Jairo Castellanos accumulated 35 points, completing a notable field of riders.
The PWVT event, part of a double-up weekend with events also scheduled in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and Tulsa, Oklahoma, provides crucial opportunities for riders to climb the Velocity Global standings. These standings determine which new riders will be added to the prestigious Unleash The Beast circuit, ultimately vying for spots at the PBR World Finals in May.
