York Gin is swiftly establishing itself as a leader in sustainable distilling, recently crowned a ‘Glass Champion’ for its innovative and impactful practices. Recent reports highlighted the distillery’s significant achievements in 2025, marking a pivotal year for this spirited producer.
A Cycle of Sustainability
The core of York Gin’s success lies in its remarkably circular process. Utilizing a system of 5-litre jerry cans, the distillery meticulously collects and reuses these vessels – a staggering eight bottles are saved per cycle. Over 300 jerry cans are currently in operation, reflecting a commitment to minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency.
Recognition & New Releases
The efforts didn’t go unnoticed. York Gin’s dedication earned them the prestigious ‘Glass Champion Award,’ validating their approach. The year also saw the launch of two exciting new products: 866 Viking Vodka, timed perfectly for the York Viking Festival’s February debut, and a collaborative ‘Gorgeous’ apple gin with the renowned Ampleforth Abbey.
Beyond product innovation, York Gin garnered significant media attention, including TV coverage on Alan Titchmarsh’s show and with Kelvin Fletcher, showcasing the brand’s rising profile.
The Heart of the Operation
Operating out of a stunning new boutique distillery within Middleton’s Hotel, York Gin is led by Natalie, Emma, and Guy. These experts offer immersive 5-star Gin School experiences and engaging tasting events, inviting enthusiasts to delve into the art of gin production.
Looking to the Future
With a clear vision and a robust foundation, York Gin is confidently stepping into 2026, brimming with ‘spirit and confidence.’ The team is poised to continue its trajectory of innovation and sustainable practices, solidifying its position as a key player in the UK spirits scene.
