University of Montana Student Creates Limited-Edition Craft Beer to Commemorate 125th Anniversary
In celebration of the University of Montana’s 125th anniversary, student Mark Johnson has brewed up a storm by creating his own limited-edition craft beer. The beer, aptly named “Gridiron Gold,” is a nod to the university’s rich athletic history and its iconic red-and-white colors.
About Gridiron Gold
Gridiron Gold is an American-style pale ale that boasts a crisp, refreshing taste with hints of citrus and floral notes. The beer has been carefully crafted using only the finest ingredients, including locally-sourced hops from Montana’s own hop farms.
A Collaboration Between Student and Brewery Owner
Johnson collaborated closely with local brewery owner Alex Smith to bring his creation to life. “I wanted to create something that would truly represent our university’s spirit,” Johnson said in an interview. “Gridiron Gold is more than just a beer – it’s a tribute to the Grizzlies’ enduring legacy.”
Proceeds Support UM Scholarships
A portion of the proceeds from Gridiron Gold sales will go towards supporting student scholarships at the University of Montana. This unique partnership not only benefits students but also helps preserve the university’s tradition and excellence.
Where to Find Gridiron Gold?
Gridiron Gold is currently available for purchase exclusively at local bars, restaurants, and convenience stores in Missoula, Bozeman, Great Falls, Helena and Butte. A limited-edition bottle release will also be held on campus later this month.
