Overview: Spirit Cartel has launched The Mictlan Trail in Edinburgh, running from October 14 to November 30. The trail allows cocktail connoisseurs to explore the underworld of Nahua mythology through agave spirits. Each participating Edinburgh venue represents one of the nine levels of Mictlan, with bartenders creating a tequila or mezcal cocktail based on its stories, landscapes and encounters. Venues taking part include Lady Libertine in the New Town, as well as The False Widow and The Mother Superior in Leith. Dragonfly, The Voodoo Rooms and The Powder Room are also among the bars participating, with further venues still to be announced.
A wide selection of premium tequila brands will be used including 818 Tequila, San Cosme Mezcal, Pa’Todos Tequila, Rosaluna Mezcal, Cascahuín Tequila, G4 Tequila and Terralta Tequila. David Hood, General Manager of Spirit Cartel, stated that Edinburgh’s cocktail scene provided the ideal setting for the first trail. He noted: “Edinburgh has such a dynamic cocktail scene, with brilliant bars and incredibly talented bartenders, so we wanted to create something that celebrates that.” The trail will showcase a wide selection of premium tequila brands including Pa’Todos Tequila, Rosaluna Mezcal, San Cosme Mezcal, Cascahuín Tequila, G4 Tequila, Terralta Tequila and 818 Tequila.
