Overview: Ardgowan Distillery Co has unveiled a refreshed branding and packaging update for its Clydebuilt Scotch Whisky portfolio, effective October 6, 2026. The company is simultaneously streamlining the range to three core SKUs while reinforcing its financial position with substantial investments in mature malt stocks.
The Full Story
The new presentation features an etched map of the distillery location on each bottle, accompanied by updated labels and gift boxes. Distribution begins through the specialist retail channel from October 6, 2026. Alongside the visual refresh, Ardgowan has slimmed the Clydebuilt range down to two core SKUs—a Sherry Cask Matured Single Malt and a 100 Proof Sherry Cask Matured Single Malt—both ten years old. A third limited-edition release, the ten-year-old Candlebrae Single Malt, rounds out the trio. The suggested retail prices are GBP45.99, GBP63.99, and GBP55 respectively.
Clydebuilt launched in 2019 to bottle single cask bottlings while Ardgowan matures its own malt. To support this expansion, the company invested GBP5m in mature malt whisky stocks in 2025 and projects an additional GBP4m spend in 2026. Earlier in the year, Ardgowan secured new funding after converting loan notes into cash to support ongoing operations.
Production & Profile
The portfolio consists of three distinct expressions defined by their age and cask maturation. The core range features a Sherry Cask Matured Single Malt at ten years old, alongside a 100 Proof Sherry Cask Matured Single Malt also aged for ten years. A limited-edition release, the ten-year-old Candlebrae Single Malt, completes the lineup. All expressions are produced under the ownership of Ardgowan Distillery Co.
Brand & Industry History
The bottling business was established in 2019 with a specific operational strategy: to bottle single cask bottlings while the parent company matures its own namesake single malt. This approach allowed Clydebuilt to build a portfolio of finished products while waiting for Ardgowan’s own production to mature.
What This Means
The financial backing supports the premium presentation and future growth of the brand. David Keir, sales & marketing director at Ardgowan, noted that the refreshed branding gives Clydebuilt the premium presentation its whisky has long deserved. The eye-catching design brings greater clarity and confidence to the range, while the map of the Clyde links every bottle to the place it was created.
Consumer Takeaway
The release offers a streamlined selection of ten-year-old single malt Scotch whisky available through specialist retail channels. Consumers can choose between standard proof, 100 Proof, or the limited edition Candlebrae finish, with prices ranging from GBP45.99 to GBP63.99.
