Overview: Arbikie Highland Estate Distillery has announced the launch of its inaugural Single Estate Single Malt Scotch Whisky, titled Arbikie – The Signature. This limited release consists of 1,000 bottles and marks a defining moment for the family-owned business following ten years of production.
The Full Story
Launching on September 7th, 2026, the release coincides with the anniversary of Arbikie’s first-ever cask being filled. The Signature lays the foundation for the distillery’s next chapter as the inaugural expression in its long-term single malt programme. Iain Stirling, Co-Founder of Arbikie Highland Estate Distillery, noted that the whisky demonstrates what can be achieved when every decision happens on the same estate.
The release marks a defining moment for the family-owned business and the small team behind it, bringing together more than a decade of whisky-making expertise and four centuries of family farming. Every stage of production took place on the Arbikie Estate, from barley grown in the family’s coastal fields to cask maturation in the estate’s former dairy warehouses. The result is a single malt shaped entirely by one place and by the people who know it best.
Production & Profile
Arbikie – The Signature (48% ABV) was matured for 10 years in ex-Bourbon barrels. The barley source is Odyssey barley grown on the Arbikie Estate, ensuring that the entire production process from barley growing to cask maturation occurred within the estate boundaries.
Tasting notes indicate the spirit opens with aromas of ripe peach, banana bread and lemons herbet. The palate features notes of brioche, apricot marmalade and citrus, leading to a finish of creamy vanilla, orange blossom and lingering spice.
Brand & Industry History
The distillery represents a convergence of agricultural heritage and distilling craft within the Angus region. The family has maintained farming operations for four centuries, while the team behind the whisky brings more than a decade of specific expertise to the production process. This background informs the philosophy that the first whisky should reflect the farm, the family, and the dedication of everyone who helped nurture it from field to bottle.
What This Means
This release establishes Arbikie – The Signature as the inaugural expression in its long-term single malt programme. Stirling emphasized that the team was not interested in releasing a single malt simply because the market expected it, but rather to reflect their specific philosophy and dedication. After ten years of patience, the distillery believes The Signature demonstrates exactly what can be achieved when every decision happens on the same estate.
Consumer Takeaway
Arbikie – The Signature is now available from the distillery’s website and selected specialist retailers, for a RRP of £250. This limited edition offers collectors access to a single malt shaped entirely by one place and the people who know it best.
