Overview: Lakeshore Keepers will host a fundraiser on Sept. 26 to raise $30,000 for the Big Sable Point Lighthouse. The event features a special bourbon raffle produced by Iron Fish Distillery.
The Full Story
The fundraiser aims to provide free tower climbs for children throughout the 2027 season during the lighthouse’s 160th anniversary. Held at the Beach House at Ludington State Park from 3:30 to 6 p.m., the event includes appetizers catered by Chevy & Sons, a silent auction, and a raffle. Auction items include a stay in the Big Sable Suite, a Ludington restaurant reservation, and a stay at a Ludington bed and breakfast.
A behind-the-scenes tour of Big Sable Point Lighthouse is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m., with guests transported by bus to access historic keeper’s quarters and climb the tower. The raffle will feature bottles of a special Big Sable 160th anniversary bourbon produced by Iron Fish Distillery. Only 160 bottles are planned for public release beginning Nov. 20, according to event organizers. One bottle will be added to the Sept. 26 raffle for every 10 raffle tickets sold, up to a maximum of 10 bottles. Participants in the bourbon raffle must be at least 21. Tickets for the fundraiser are $100 per person. Proceeds will support Lakeshore Keepers’ goal of providing free tower climbs for children throughout the 2027 season. Funds were raised in just four months to complete the $450,000 restoration project at the keeper’s dwelling of the Big Sable.
