The Full Story
Penelope Bourbon introduces Madagascar as the latest addition to its Cooper Series of cask-finished whiskeys. The expression utilizes a Four Grain Straight Bourbon Whiskey base that matures in Cognac casks. Michael Paladini, Founder and Vice President of Strategy at Penelope Bourbon, stated that the objective was to explore how finishing in Cognac casks can bring a new dimension to their popular Four Grain Straight Bourbon. Daniel Polise, Founder and Master Blender, noted that the Cognac casks contributed candied fruit and spice notes while maintaining the bourbon’s vanilla and caramel characteristics.
Madagascar joins three existing Cooper Series releases: Havana, finished in Caribbean rum and maple syrup casks; Rio, double-finished in American honey and Brazilian oak casks; and Riviera, finished in Spanish rosé wine casks.
Production & Profile
The Madagascar expression utilizes a Four Grain Straight Bourbon Whiskey base that undergoes finishing in Cognac casks. Bottled at 99 proof, the whiskey displays a spectrum of flavor notes including vanilla bean, brown sugar, candied citrus, caramel, peanut, cinnamon, vanilla wafer, candied fruit, spice, and marshmallow.

Consumers can acquire Penelope Madagascar online and at retailers nationwide for a suggested retail price of $79.99 per 750-ml bottle.
