On August 3, provincial police announced the prosecution of Thuy from Kon Tum Ward on charges related to counterfeit food and beverages. Officers inspected her liquor business and discovered 103 plastic containers, each with a capacity of 30 litres, filled with a cloudy white liquid.
Among the seized items were nine containers of industrial alcohol and 80 containers holding more than 200 litres of finished liquor that had allegedly been mixed and prepared for sale. During questioning, Thuy admitted purchasing high-strength alcohol of unknown origin before mixing it with tap water to produce white liquor for sale to consumers, investigators said.
