The Full Story
Cafe Margaux celebrates the wines and cuisine of the Iberian Peninsula with a Spanish wine dinner featuring the wines of Familia Martinez Bujanda, Licia and Bodegas Faustino. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 3 and 4 at the Cocoa Village restaurant, 220 Brevard Ave. Five wineries from regions of Spain compose Familia Martinez Bujanda. While very different, these wineries share the common denominator of the production of estate wines as they each celebrate the diversity and richness of their terroir.
The wine from Licia, known for its vibrant citrus, green apple, and mineral flavors, is a crisp, 100% Albariño white wine from the RÃas Baixas region in Galicia, Spain. Peppercorn-seared filet mignon with Yellow Finn potatoes and cognac demi-glace is among the entrees in upcoming wine and spirits dinners at Cafe Margaux. The wines will be paired with a six-course menu that begins with chilled cucumber and sorrel soup, chili-lacquered scallop and Key lime creÌ€me fraiche. The salad course features caramelized apples in a white wine reduction, toasted sunflower seeds and mustard yogurt, minced pumpernickel bread, braised leeks and watercress dressing.
Dinner continues with lobster paella with chorizo, fava beans, Spanish paprika and saffron; braised Spanish rabbit tenderloin with wild mushrooms, polenta and smoked paprika-roasted tomatoes; a cheese course of Mahon, a smooth, supple cow’s milk cheese that can only be legally produced in the Balearic island of Menorca and, for dessert, chocolate-salted caramel souffle. Cafe Margaux will also host a Remy Martin fine champagne cognac dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 17. The five course menu, each paired with different Remy Martin selections, features white bean duck soup with soaked goat cheese foie gras and tomato basil bruschetta; warm butter-sauteed kale and asparagus spears, fresh spinach and citrus Mission fig red wine vinaigrette and pistachio nut-crusted, sugar-glazed sea scallop; mahi mahi en croute stuffed with goat cheese served with Wehani rice risotto; peppercorn-seared filet mignon with Yellow Finn potatoes and cognac demi-glace and Torta di Noci walnut cake filled with walnut cream and topped with walnuts.
