Overview: Arbikie Highland Estate Distillery has officially launched its first-ever single estate single malt Scotch whisky following a decade of maturation. The release, titled The Signature, marks the anniversary of the distillery’s initial cask filling and is available from September 7.
The Full Story
Iain Stirling, co-founder of Arbikie Highland Estate Distillery, stated that The Signature represents everything the team has worked towards since filling their first casks ten years ago. Every stage of production took place on the Arbikie Estate in Angus, Scotland, ranging from growing Odyssey barley in coastal fields to maturing the spirit in former dairy warehouses. The distillery blends more than a decade of whisky making with four centuries of family farming history.
The launch marks a major milestone for Arbikie as it begins its single malt programme. The Signature becomes the inaugural release in Arbikie’s single malt programme, and the distillery noted that they have never been interested in releasing a single malt simply because the market expected it. Instead, the whisky reflects the farm, the family, and the philosophy of everyone who helped nurture it from field to bottle.
Production & Profile
The whisky has matured for 10 years in six bourbon casks and is bottled at 48% ABV. Only 1000 bottles have been released worldwide, each priced at £250. The production utilizes Odyssey barley grown on the estate, ensuring a field-to-bottle philosophy where every decision happens on the same property.
