Overview: According to the Bacardi Cocktail Trends Report 2026, the margarita stands as the most ordered drink at bars worldwide. Produced in collaboration with The Future Laboratory, the survey ranks the mojito second and the piña colada third among global consumers.
The Full Story
Bacardi produced the report with The Future Laboratory, a London-based trends consultancy, drawing on the company’s own consumer and bartender surveys along with interviews with people working in the industry. The top ten list includes mixed drinks with two ingredients like rum and coke and whisky and coke. The dry martini is the first drink in the top ten that takes more than a pour.
Most of the next several spots go to drinks with two ingredients: vodka lemonade, vodka soda, gin and tonic. Tequila soda, gin lemonade, and the screwdriver all place, while cocktails that take shaking or muddling sit lower, including the daiquiri at 14 and the paloma at 19. Search data from August 2024 through July 2025 indicates Old Fashioned is the top searched cocktail by Americans.
What This Means
One counted what people order in bars around the world; the other counted what Americans are searching for. The margarita is the drink that shows up near the top of both. Earlier this year Princess Cruises broke a Guinness World Record by selling 3,410 margaritas in one afternoon.
Consumer Takeaway
For consumers navigating crowded venues, the report suggests that simple spirit and mixer combinations remain the standard for high-volume service. Meanwhile, home drinkers seeking inspiration may find the old fashioned more relevant to their search queries during the specified period.
